Help me decide what colors to use on my truck

I have '79 F-100 base model. It's so plain it only came in white. No trim anywhere. I'm going to black out the grill like the Indy trucks and I'm wondering what color to paint the front and rear bumpers and maybe wheels. Up front I have the stock black budget bumper and in the rear a rusty looking step bumper. For wheels I have the stock silver Ford ralley spokes w/trim rings from the mid '80s. I'm not sure whether to go monochrome and paint the bumpers white, paint the bumpers silver to cordinate with the wheels, or back to black to keep it origional and paint the wheels black to match.

IMO, A lot of it depends on the interior colour.
and Are you going to keep the truck white ?

I plan too so far. It's a budget build. The interior is blue. I plan on painting the parts myself. I also plan on a blue pinstripe or pinstripes circleing around the center indention.

I'm looking for quick easy ways to clean up a plain old truck and make it look nice. So far I got new door panels, dash cover, carpet, and will get a seat cover, all blue. I also dropped in a bedmat.

I'm leaning towards silver to match the grill trim and wheels. Silver goes with blue (at least if you like the Cowboys) and my guage faces and dash trim is silver. I wish I had chrome bumpers, but they are out of the budget right now.

My F-100 Custom (plain Jane) had a gray painted step bumper on the back and a chrome one on the front as original equipment. Exterior was red. No other chrome or pin strip. The interior was all red except the steering wheel and dash. It had a black rubber floor matt. Car like mirror on the outside drivers door. No radio or any other option. Cost, out the door of the showroom $4,200.00 +- and few dollars. I have the original window sticker. Additionally is was a 300 CID engine with a 3 speed stick. Wheels were steel, white in color with a dog dish hub cap.

find some Dupli-color "High Preformance wheel coating" (high metallic silver spray paint) It should match those wheels perfectly and be very durible for the bumpers, you might even like it enough to do the grill inserts w/ it.
I never liked the mono look on trucks unless they're very customized street rods, and black and white will look "cheap".
I think you'll find with silver bumpers and those stock Ford wheels and touching up the grill plastic in like original colors, you'll end up with a clean looking stock F-100.

I assume a dark blue interior.

I would consider a colour called Silver Blue for the exterior and white for trim like bumpers wheels, etc

Silver blue was a colour used on the 66 Mustang and would fit in great with todays colours.

Edit: Click here

This sample makes it look darker then it really is.

Here it is on a stang,

Thanks for the idea Yields2,
I like the idea of using the same color paint for the wheels and bumpers. Right now they are nice shade of rust. They have to be painted anyway, so might as well change the color. I've been looking for pics, but have only found trucks with black bumpers or chrome.

Thanks for the replies. Keep 'em coming.

Finally got around to painting my grill, headlight buckets, and bumpers. The pics are in my gallery. Also added a few trim pieces to the tailgate to clean it up a little.

I saw a 52 Ford F100 this past weekend at the Ford South Show painted House of Colors Tangelo Pearl and It was beautiful with white interior and chrome. I posted a pic in my gallery. Let me be the first to say I HATE THE COLOR ORANGE but this truck changed my mind. Anyone at that show?

What can confuse some Ford guys is the ["Look of orange" on their trucks but the actual name of it is "Chrome Yellow"

I like the Tangerine myself
