Explorer Headlamps/Foglamps

Hello all...

I just ordered a cold air filtercharger for my 01 V8, K&N didn't offer one, but found, what I thought to be a reputable one on ebay. I've also been looking at buying those blue H3 xenon bulbs for my headlamps and foglamps. I see they are cheap on ebay.. Has anyone put these in their Explorer's and if so, anyone got pics of before and after?????

Thanks a bunch!!

Blue bulbs are the same wattage (if that mattered over lumens output) as any stock 55w clear bulb.

No gain there.

HID "look" (a joke at that) does not = HID performance.

I agree with above but if you want some still Pep-Boys has Silver-star by Silvania for 19.99 a pair. They're normally 39.99. Get the coupon at pepboys.com.

Silverstars are a waste of money at $40, but a real deal at $20. Buy several sets because you'll need them over the next 6 months. I finally gave up on Silverstars constantly failing. I switched over to the GE Nighthawks. Comparable light output, but they only cost about $25 a pair compared to $40 for the Silverstars. Only problem is I can't find the foglight bulbs anywhere. So far, a GE hasn't failed me.

How long will the piaa's last compared to stock or the silverstars? Do they generate more heat and cause damage to the lamp assemblies?

I would suggest looking on ebay from time to time for a set of the diamond cut headlights. I didn't see any auctions for them right now, but they are usually on there for the diamond headlights and diamond corners as a set. This is a link to what I am talking about:

http://www.procarparts.com/store-det...=onlinestoreDB

Using those and Silverstars is a great combo. I've been running the same set of Silverstars now for about 3 years and not had any problems (run H3 Silverstars in the fogs), but they work a lot better with the diamond cut lights than stocks.

i agree with cobra on the diamond cuts. there arent any on ebay right now? I was looking for a set of them for my 97 X and there were tons! and they were about $120 for the 4 piece set which included the corners and turn signals.

I didn't notice any for 95-01's. A lot of 02+ though.

I am looking for another set of them myself. If they throw up some auctions, I am probably going to buy another set and put them away for 'just in case'. I like the look a lot better than the stockers...

oh yea... they really change the whole look of the truck... especially if the stock lights look like mine, all yellowed and film on the outside is peeling.....
