What is the maximum safe boost limit?

Ok here's the deal got an 06 f250 and i want to get more out of it, but i have read about blowing head gaskets with too much boost. So whats the magic number i can take the boost to and not have to worry about blowing the head gaskets? Everybody wants the most power but which tuner would allow me to put it in and forget about it no worries? I will substitute having the most power for having dependability. Help please!

I think the gauge starts the red at 35lbs. Other than that mine is about 24/28 max. You want to mod it and not have any worries I don't think it can happen.

get a tuner, exhaust, gauges, and intake as long as you use your head and don't skyrocket those EGT's for extended periods youll be in good shape! As far as boost limits most tuners that I have ran boost around 32-38 PSI and I think 40-42 PSI is a good limit on stock gaskets and bolts.

PDS6litre40 - do you really think stock head gaskets are good to 40 - 42 PSI? I was thinking 32 was quite a bit for an extended pull like a long hill with a 5vr. How long have you run at that boost?

The Max Boost I've Seen Isaround 36 With A Tuner. I Was Told By Matt(psd60l Fx4) That The Engine Would Choke On Its Own Back Pressure After About 38#.

The question is: Can you get boost there without a tuner? How high can we get it without a tuner?

I've heard 36 psi is max optimal, anything more and the backpressure becomes detrimental.

Exclamation chips not tunners

ford dealer told me no more than 24 lbs

now that does not mean you can go more, but that is what he said , also there are other choice's you don't have to get a tunner you can get a chip, meaning a tunner loads software in you computer to change boost, fuel ,etc there a few chips out there that trick the computer readings on the Map sensor and also send readings to you pcm to tell it to give you more fuel
try looking at black cloud diesel and check the part that say's our ford stuff,
I think its call steroid by dfuser( i dont think this unit effect boost)I have ordered one of these should have it this week. say's to give you 80+hp thats enough for me

those are fuel modules not chips. A tuner tunes the computer and transmission. I thought you bought some other tuning product that failed miserably? Why don't you try some tried and true name brand stuff? I don't know what a tunner is...

Btw, A stock 6.0 can boost over 24 lbs.

Wink name brand ?

i have a edge. that is name brand. that is why i want to get away from the tuner, my truck does not like them for what ever the reason. the fuel tuner, sound like it might be the ticket, for one they told me if it does not work for me they will give me a refund , also it is about 150$, less than 1/2 of what i paid for the edge. so if it works then i will be better off with this plus no program on my pcm. time will tell. i should have it on by this coming weekend

One pound less then it will take to blow the end of the inter-cooler off.

edge juice is a fuel module. r u running their new computer tuner? Anyhow, the SCMT and SCT don't leave any trace in the pcm and they are reliable. I wouldn't run a fuel module without some type of transmission tuner to let it know whats going on. $.02

Wink not juice

my edge unit is the edge evolution, and i dont think a trans tuner is going to help much, it is for shift points.
which

by the way my edge unit does not change in tow mode.
