I saw an SS today at work, and a co-worker stated that my L would lose to the SS in a drag race. The SS owner wasn't so sure, since he wouldn't put up a C note to race me (or even for nothing, until he has boost). I've looked for the specs, but haven't found much. Just what are the facts?
Those trucks are extremely heavy!!! Stock for stock, the SS silvy doesn't hold a candle to a GEN 2 L in a drag race...period!

Just put it this way.. the ss (345hp) isn't even in the L (380) or srt10's (500) class..
"Despite this kind of stellar performance, there are still a couple high-performance pickups that an SS owner doesnt want to tangle with for fear of being embarrassed: the F150 Lightning and the Dodge SRT10. Without some aftermarket help, the Silverado isnt in their class when it comes to pure muscle and straight-line go." as quoted by gulfcoastnews.com
..even with a 6-8 psi s/c kit : procharger/wipple/paxton..exc exc - and you with just a chip i would be willing to bet you would still light him up
the ss would probably get off the line better since it is all-wheel drive

a ss cannot even come close. my friend just bought one he said he wanted to run me. I told him I would give him a head start (pissed him off) he said he didn't need one and that he would put 500 on it. need less to say he still owes me 500 bucks. But I had to mess with him some, when we took off I just tryed to stay with him, letting him think he had a chance. I let him start to pull maybe 2 foot and he turned to me a waved at me like saying bye bye. So I floored it and pulled on him hard. he did not even stop at the next light, he just turned right and went home. I feel bad for him, his new girlfriend was in his truck. LOL
I've had no problems with the SS, I have a Titan by the way in stock form. I have however been smoked by a lightning, one of the reasons I'm here looking around. Lightning or SRT-10 is my current dilemma as a second play truck if you will.
