Unhappy Manual tranyy issues

I just bought a 1999 F-150 4WD manual trans with 63000 miles on it and the tranny just started makeing noise. With the clutch engaged and the tranny in neutral it sounds like a clicking that varries with RPM...which goes away when I disengage the clutch. Also 4th gear has a lot of gear chatter.....any suggestions would be greatly apreciated........

Sounds like the thrust bearing going bad. That's the bearing that pushes against the clutch when you press the pedal.

Unhappy Just replaced

The hydraulic throwout bearing assy was just recently replaced for that very reason.....I'm haveing a sinking feeling that the problem is with the hardparts within the tranny iteslf..........

Go by your local "cheap tool" supply store ( harbor freight) and pick up a sethascope so you can narrow down exactly where the noise is coming from.
