removing the race from a rotor?

Bought new front bearings today (yes I remembered the grease seals). I bought the set that has the bearing and the race. Just exactly how to you get the old race out? Is there a lip or something that you can put a drift on to carefully punch it out? Are there any secrets to make this job easier?

94 4X4 explorer.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

Yes there is a small lip that you can punch against from the back side. I always like to use a brass punch, but sometimes it will require a steel punch. Remember to work around the race, opposite sides for each drive, and move just a little bit at the time. If you try to go too much on any one spot, it will **** to the point of being very difficult to remove. I also try to always use a small hammer (helps with only moving a little bit each time).

Oh, and when you go back in with the new one, same drill. Start it in straight, and go just a little bit each time. Make sure that it is very clean before you start.

Thanks Jerry. The old races weren't scored or discolored, so I just left them in...
