Fuel Injector Electrical Connector Gasket.

I noticed yesterday as I was changing my plugs (02 F-150 5.4L) that some of the injector electrical connectors had a little rectangular red gasket in them and some of them didn't. I cannot find anyone who sells just the gasket; the dealer says you have to buy the whole harness. I didn't notice any corrosion on the connector, so I'm wondering if I should even worry about trying to find a similar gasket or make my own?

Most likely you won't find any auto parts shops who'll sell you the gaskets but they are just silicone o-rings. You should be able to find them. One place I was able to get this type of o-ring was a heavy equipment shop for Catapillar. I would recommend replacing them if you can, they keep the moisture off the connections

The red gasket is a water seal. When the connector is unplugged, this gasket should stay in the wiring harness connector.

What you are describing is the gasket on some of your wiring connectors stayed on the injector and others stayed in the wiring plug. Take a look to see if this may be the case. If so, then put the seals back into the wiring plug before plugging back into the injector.

I believe the connectors had been unplugged before, and someone didn't notice the seals falling out. They were not stuck in the connector. Some stayed on the injector, some fell out, and some were never there to start with.

BTW, KingRanchMan, I've got a 02 KR Crew Cab. Great truck.

NASA_Hokie,

Sounds like someone previous to you was a little careless. Good luck with finding replacements. You might try NAPA.

I agree that the KR is a great truck! I love mine too. Mine is a 2002 F-150 KR Supercab. 5.4L 4x2, charcaol blue/arizona beige.

A good dealer should be able to help you out with finding the seals. If not, go to a junk yard that allows you to go pull your own parts, find a similar truck, and start pulling!!
