Bump, cause I read about the ATF + acetone trick in the general automotive section and wanted to find the original article.

As for the suggestion of oil of wintergreen, try Marvel Mystery Oil.
MMO used to be located in Portchester, NY right across the street from the LifeSavers factory.
Is it any wonder where they got the idea for using it to free up stuck machinery?

As a kid I remember the smell would envelope downtown.
