I had an 86 F150 4x4 with the 4.9L/4-speed OD/Off-Road pkg back from 87 to 91 and really loved it. By the weekend I'll have another, a 94 F150 4x4 w/5-speed. hope it works out as well as my first.

1996 F150 4x4, 300 six. 222,000 and still ticking.

Ford 300 - (really a 5.0L, look it up) - simply the best gasoline truck engine you could buy in these trucks.

The carb'd 300's made their peak torque even lower than the EFI fitted 300's.

At times it isn't how much power you use but how you use it - and the 300 was designed to use it's power in TRUCK applications.

Actually, the "5.0l" Mustangs were 4.9l's.....LOL

Spent most of yesterday retrieving my "new" 94. Has a scratch or two but I think it'll buff out! Plans are to stick my flatbed on it. I'll just have to see if that decision sticks.
