1997 F150, 4x4 Cruise Control - Not Working

Looking for some help:

1997 F150, 5 speed manual trans, 4x4

Crusie control was working properly. I went to use it recently on a long trip and it did not work, no light on dash or anything. Thought it may be due to the recall, I had the recall completed, but went ahead and bought new presure switch that sits on master cylinder to be on safe side. Checked both fuses, under dash and under hood, all fuses are good.

I recently put a heater core in the truck, followed the directions provided by a memeber of this web site, they are excellent! I re-checked all of the connections that I could possibly think that may have had something to do with this problem, I see nothing. Especially on the passenger side.

A wiring diagram may help, or some good check points so that I can work backwards to pinpoint the issue, any advice would greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Scott

How long ago did you have the recall fix performed? Call up the shop and tell them whats happening. They might have a warranty on the work they did, or they might check it over and see if the problem is in what they did or another part of the wiring.

Thanks! I did, they did not offer much help. I went through all of the plugs again last night, went for a ride and it worked! But it appears that the light in the dash is not working, or burnt out. I will test again today, and replace bulb when I get a chance.

Thanks for your reply

Nope, factory forgot to include it. Same on every other 97 (and more).

Yea...my '97 doesnt have a light either.

I think a light is kinda pointless anyways...when the truck is moving at 60mph and both of my feet are resting below the pedals...I think I know that I have the CC on. LOL

I think the light became part of the guage cluster after 1999 or 2000. I drive a 1999 Expy - no light. I've driven an '01 equipped with the light.

Scott...the fix for the cruise control starting fires was to put in a sort of inline fuse. Maybe the inline fuse from the recall that was installed went out.
