Tell him to learn how to speak english.

 

Keeping your truck original is not uncommon. And the fuel mileage should be decent with the 300 cid. You are not wasting time on your truck, the process of restoring a truck does take some time.

 

I am new to the scene but it seems like you either love the 300 ci or you hate it. The people who love it use words and phrases like 'reliable' 'simple to work on' 'easy to maintain' 'just can't kill the engine'.... People who hate them use words like 'no power', slow highway speed' and 'tractor motor'....

I guess it is what is important to you.

I have always preferred the simple and spartan approach to engineering and the 300 ci was actually a selling point for me in buying this old truck. I have not owned this truck long but it seems like will cruise all day long at 60 mph.

 

tell him it's a truck and the 300 is a truck motor. It has more torque than a 302 and is better on gas than a 351. will out-pull either, and will outlast either. and then tell him to each their own.

it wont outpull a 351 but it'll give it a run for its money, for my buddies i had to show them the light so i towed a ranger by idling in 2nd across the parking lot. but it still makes me very angry when someone insults my truck.

why not a 351 cid or even a 302... he is such a genious he assumes V8's are the only decent truck engine. Tell him to go back to school and learn how to weed n' witee, and that the 300 toasts the 302 as a truck motor. They put them in F350's for a reason.

why just a 300.... get the big bad v8 thats 2 more cubic inches and makes its torque were the honda ridgeline does too...

 

With the right setup a 300 will definitely out pull a 351.

Don't let him get under your skin too much buddy! He obviously doesn't know what the 300 Ford is all about. I am the only guy in our 4 wheeling group of friends who is running an inline six, everyone else has a V8. Do it feel left out? No not really, because when it comes to trail riding, hill climbing, mud bogging, and so forth I hang right with them. Often times I am the guy who is pulling them out of a stuck somewhere. I get a lot of crap from people about having a Ford and even more for having a six in a fullsize truck. I get pretty worked up sometimes when someone says something. Just let it go he's a jackass and he doesn't know anything about what you have.
