Ford 6.2L V8 gasser?

Did anyone else hear about this? It was on the Ford vs Competition forum. Follow this link:

http://www.ford-trucks.com/lc/lc.php...Fsl_011706.htm

Does that mean a 7.75L V10 ?

Nah... but that might mean a smaller displacement replacement for the V10? Ewww....

OK, wait, it says 2006 in the text, not 2003... and the HTML seems to be named like it's a 2006 release, so...

Wow, I am confused. Especially considering the quote at the bottom of your signature.

I read more into this, and there are already three or so 5.4L motors called a "Boss" and they are Aussie's

I wonder if the 6.2 is destined for the US market.

Well what ever happens we wont see anything for a few years. Plus, that is union jargon. Mostly based and best case cenarios. With Ford in the rough shape that it is in. I would be tough to develop a second engine program. The went modular to save money. Seeing that the engines mentioned are destine for F-series trucks, Explorer, and future vehicles. I would say they are destine for the U.S. Market.

Heck, a V6 diesel in a 1/2 ton would be cool.

After listenting to todays web cast from Dearborn I believe the V10 will be history in a while. Reason for this? The windsor casting plant is being mothballed, and that is where the v10 block is cast. There is no word of outsourcing V-10 modular blocks. All talk right now is for the new engines. Cleveland management are right now in talks to bring that work to the Ohio casting plant. Of course it is a bidding contract so that there are at least one other group bidding on this work as well. Should know very soon who won the contract.

From Reuter's Canada:

http://ca.today.reuters.com/news/new...CANADA-COL.XML

Doesn't say anything about Windsor closing, just more job losses (edit: 1,110).

The V10 block is not cast at Windsor Casting Plant. I believe it is cast at the Cleveland foundry.

This new 6.2L Hurricane is already on the way. The V10 isn't going anywhere...look at the Super Chief Concept.
Right now, I'm wondering what the specs will be for the 6.2L, and the new 4.4L diesel that the F-150 will be using.

I wonder what the point of the 6.2 V8 is... F150? Expedition (or whatever is replacing it) ??

I imagine it's to be able to fit a bigger motor (cubic inch-wise) into a chassis that doesn't have enough room for the V10.

I mean ... 400cc's isn't enough to consider putting it in an SD, is it?

Wild Turkey is starting off with a positive reputation.
Looks like Ford is finally tired of the F150 playing second fiddle to the Tundra...Here's an excerpt I found:

According to PickupTruck.com, Farley showed dealers at the show a video of a Raptor prototype running across the desert at high speeds and even had a few of the truck's parts on hand — including the truck's long-travel Fox Racing shocks and a picture of the production front grille.
Ford executives also indicated that the truck would be outputting 380 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, but with a 6.2L BOSS V8 underhood, the production Raptor should be closer to 420 horsepower.
And judging by the level of Ford's excitement, the Raptor is on the fast track to production. One Ford exec was quoted as saying we're "going to drive this right up Toyota's a**."

So is the diesel motor for the F150 still being planned or did they scrap the idea?
