Duck huntin' the Missisipi Delta
Guy's, while watchin' TNN this weekend,Mossy Oak had a show on duck hunting the MS Delta in northern MS,close to the Arkansas & Louisiana state lines, and,I was wondering if there is anyone on this board that happens to be from that area & likes to duck hunt? I am an avid duck hunter from the southern part of LA and don't get to experience the masses of mallards & pintails that remain in this area until the hardest winter freezes sweep down, which is pretty much when the season closes, then the mallards will come down to my area.I would love to hunt those flooded timbers or flooded bean fields in the MS Delta, and, will be willing to pay a small amount for such an opportunity, and, even exchange a hunt for wood ducks in my area,or,a fishing trip in our famous Atchafalaya Basin area.Let me know !

Over the past years, I have gradually increased the shot sizes i use from one season to the next.# 4 steel has never impressed me much, except for am occasional hit on 2 birds at once but always cripples ! #2 steel gave me better hope ' cause of further range but still not what i was lookin for. Now I'm trying # BB steel this season and so far,I have managed clean kills(no cripples to chase after)and the larger pellets seem to do better for leading purposes.I do a lot of passover shooting so I'll know if BB is the ticket after this season.BTW, all of this is through a modified choke. I hope to test an imp. cylinder choke next year.

You haven't waterfowl hunted till you've been to the Canadian prairies. Right smack in the middle of the North American flyway. We've got it all, from early September till December.
I'm talking entire fields that are black with ducks and geese. Greater Canadas the size of turkeys, Specklebellies, Mallards, Pintails, Canvasbacks, and all the Teals and other "lesser" ducks you can think of.
All this in the comfort of a nice dry wheat stubble or pea field.
Some of the most fun hunting there is.
Now that Sheila Copps has decide that steel shot is the answer I've started to use BB or BBB shot, and there's still too many wounded birds. I used to use #2 or #4 lead, kills 'em dead.
