Question Holley Carb difference? (auto/standard trans)

There is a 4 barrel Holley on E-bay that was made for an automatic transmition. What is the difference, and can this Carb be used effectively with a standard trans?

I believe that there is a slight difference.. I'm thinking that carbs on the autos are made to let the engine idle lower, whereas on a manual, you can have the engine idle faster without worries.
Hope this helps, please correct me if i'm wrong.
Dustin

Any difference is external. Besides the kickdown there is also the dash pot.

Now this is interesting, is the dashpot more heavy duty, so to counter the momentum of the downshift linkage? If so, would it be to slow to return to idle if used with a standard trans?
Hmmmm
Thanks!

Idle speed on standard tranny is not a big deal, why you have a clutch cause you can rev it up to get going. Why we guys with manuals have hoter cams, we won't have to worry about anything really, just getting it to the rom that it normally can take a load under.

Sorry ifi was wrong on the carb, i'm putting a 650 cfm holley on my 302, it'll wanna load up on me but oh well, best luck with your vehicle.

wild.bunch is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE. wild.bunch is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
The purpose of the dashpot on automatic trans cars & trucks is to prevent stalling on a quick stop.

At times, when one is driving along and the torque converter is "coupled," and one suddlenly lets off the accelerator and stamps on the brake, the converter remains "coupled" and the engine, which is on the idle stop, will stall. The dashpot stops the throttle blades from closing completely for a brief moment as it "bleeds down," which gives the engine enough gas to stay running until the converter uncouples, allowing the engine to slowly achieve idle without stalling.

Thanx for stepping in Tim, some days I just dont get time to play on here!
The dash pot is a simple add-on affair that is easily removed or simply pop off the link and leave the rest alone for a stick shifter.
