It is behind the drivers side kick panel, accessed from under the hood. It's a vertical connector on the firewall, close to the fender. Disconnect the wiring connector, held in by a 10 mm bolt, then remove the two screws holding in the computer. You may have to take out the wheel well to get the computer out.

It's in the firewall near where the driver's left foot would be. Look under the hood in that area on the firewall. You'll see 2 or 3 decent size connectors in the firewall - the one closest to the fender (right side) is the ECU. It's about 1" by 5" and is mounted vertically.

I think the 96 ecu is comparitively cheap, like $200 from the dealer vs $400 for a reconditioned one just a couple of years older.

I'm pretty sure I read that there is only one place that repairs these and that they are way behind. It might take a month to get one from them.

what problem are you having?

My mistake on the double post - Eric and I posted at the same time.

FYI, these computers are pretty durable - they usually are not the cause of an EFI problem. It's pretty much the last alternative option.

I'm sure you can source one from a junkyard for cheap - these trucks are everywhere.

You are kind of restricted since it's a 96...so find a truck that's just like yours and swipe its computer.
