C6 Tailshaft blues
HI ! I have a C6 trans out of a 74 Lincoln, I'm in the process of installing a TCI HiPo rebuild kit and plan to bolt this to a stroked 460 (now 521). Does anyone out there know if there are any aftermarket short tailshaft housings (cast iron would be best) offered for the C6 ?
I am aware the police interceptor C6 had a short cast iron tailshaft housing but trying to find one is another matter. Any help/ideas greatlly appreciated!
Thanks, Dan H.

Take a peak under any FE equiped 2WD 67-72 F250 Camper Special you see with dual tanks. My '69 and my dad's '70 both have the 7" tailhousing and the 4-bolt flanged output shaft. This 7" housing is actually two seperate pieces; the front 5 1/4" holds a large ball bearing, the rear 1 3/4" section bolts on to the rear of the front and contains the speedometer gear and shaft seal.
I am not sure what the criteria for using this housing was (Engine, Year, Heavy Duty, Rear Tank, Ect); but most other Fords that I have seen use a 13" tailhousing.
You might also want to check the 4WD F250's with divorved T-Cases. It is possible that they were use here also to save space.

Thanks for the advise! I have a one piece 7" shaft and housing I plan to install but I was hoping someone out there knew of an aftermarket for these, specificaly a beefed up short version. As usual you can find all kinds of these for turbo hydromatic but nothing I can find for C4,C6.....Putting a Chevy trans in a Ford is a crime,so I don't want to go that route unless I have to. I've searched the internet for hours and have come up empty.
Thanks Again, Dan H.
PS- Anyone out there knows of a site please drop me a line, thx
