1999 Superduty no brake lights; also trailer brake controller problem

Hello all. 1999 F250 Super Duty.

I was towing my trailer tonight, everything working fine, then I noticed that when I stepped on the brake pedal, the trailer brake controller indicator light did not turn from green to red (as it usually would).

I figured a wire came loose on the trailer, but when i got home, I discovered that I have no brake lights at all, including the third brake light omunted on the cab. Even with the trailer disconnected, nothing.

I still have turn signals and running lights. I looked at all the fuses (especailly 20A fuse #13 under the dash) and looked at the fuses in the power distribution box. They all look OK.

I guess I will try and get it looked at tomorrow morning, but thought I would see if you guys had any suggestions first.

As always, THANKS VERY MUCH!!

-Mike

Alot of times when Ive had vehicles come into my shop with trailer wiring problems , alot can be traced to corrosion in the vehicle half of the connector , Craig.

thanks for the replies!

Turns out it was the stoplight switch on the brake pedal. I guess it just wore out after 130K miles.

The switch on my 99 failed too. I took the old one appart just to see how it worked. There are a set of "points" inside. Mine were pitted and fried.
