Just scored a very rare option...

One Saturday a month two buddies and I go junkyarding.

This morning I scored a factory lit vanity mirror set... Only the third set I have ever seen in person.

Came out of a WEIRD truck. A 79 F350 Ranger, single rear wheel, non super camper special. Had a cab and chassis equipment sticker (137" WB, 8900# GVW) on the door jam but was equipped with a factory 78/79 box (with the toolbox). Rubber mats and a 4 speed but with A/C and the vanity mirror. One of the unsual ones.

Cheers

Chris

You got lucky, congratulatins on the find. I just scored a 100 mph speedometer at the local salvage yard. It also came out of a wierd truck. It was a 75 F-350 dually with a flatbed and no other options at all. and i might go back because they have a 4 spped transmission with overdrive. What color are the visors?

Funny what you can find that pleases you. My favorite find in U-pick scavenging was a "mint condition" cardboard glove box liner. No sag, no discoloration, no fraying. It was beautiful.

Nice find on the vanity mirror. Maybe we should start a whole new thread on "most memorable junkyard finds".

EricJ, He got it for his wife. So if she rides with him it makes the truck nicer for her, that is why I got one. HA! Erv

Yeah, but will it make her rear end look smaller?

sounds like a pretty standard SRW F350?
it was common 1 ton option. lighted part of the cab so you could do paperwork without opening the door. 350s were WORK trucks

Let's hope he got the original wiring harness for it too ?

My eyes always light up when I see a Lariat or XLT in the wreckers.

Are those the big black boxy mirrors with lights on the sides that clip onto the visors?

If so... I tossed those out when I got my truck... lol

No, that is something you buy at Wal-Mart. The Oe lighted visors are built into the visor itself.
