Smile Multifunction switch removal

Am trying to get to 97 F-150 multifunction switch to see if cleaning/lube will get the right turn signal to flash normally. Got the 3 phillips head screws off the bottom cover, unscrewed the lever for the steering wheel position and the bottom cover came off....the top cover is restricted from coming off by the ignition switch which I am unfamiliar with removing.

Any help on getting the top cover off?

Thanks-Goudey

Hey Goudey,
First disconect the battery, it will save the battery from discharge. Next remove the trim panel that is just above the steering column, it just snaps in place, note you will need to put on the park brake and move the gearshift lever down for better access. With the ignition key in the run position, look up from the floor at one of the holes in the lower sterring column cover pnl. You will see a silver tiny ball looking thing that must be pressed to release the switch assy, it kind of looks like a grease fitting ball.

Good luck. Dave P.

Q: My signal lights dont work correctly...they flash too fast or not at all or one side and not the other etc.

A: For some good info and instructions on replacing the switch see AjRagno's posts at https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...?s=&thr...%252 52Bremove or https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...hreadid=193614
