Hard Top Post Removal

I am debating weather or not to cut the posts off of my hard top to assist in the hard top removal process. To my understanding earlier EB's hard tops did not have the posts on the hard tops. It seems to me there should be enough bolts to hold the hard top on, and if this is the case what functions do the posts serve.

Are you talking about the downward-pointing posts at the rear corners?

Funny you should mention this, because just last week I cut the rear corner "posts" (really just angles) about in half and rounded the corners to make them slide in easier. I did it for the same reason you're wanting to do it, to make it easier to take off and put on. But, I left them about half as long so I have a bit more of side to side stability and rigidity...tying the whole truck together.
