Check Gauge - Tow/Haul Flashing

I know I have read about this here, but the Search Mode is not working all that well for me. I was driving up the road at 65 mph when the check gauge light came on. At the same time, the tow/haul light started to flash on and off and the transmission dropped into tow/haul mode. I am going to the dealer tomorrow but I would feel better if someone could shed some light on this. The Service Manager knows I read this forum and halfway expects me to tell him what the trouble is.

The diesel tech advised that the Temperature Sensor inside the transmission is malfunctioning. He will have to drop the pan to replace it, when it arrives - hopefully on Monday. They do not stock this part because they have never had to replace one. Oh well, at least we get a free peek at the guts of the transmission. If a condition exists that is subject to warranty repair (planetary gear, etc.), that will be addressed at the same time. The truck just turned 35,588 miles on the way to the dealer. I will report further at the conclusion of this service. We still love our truck!

Welcome to FTE HICountrycrawler. You should visit your dealer to run a diagnostic test.

Just because the temp sensor fixed his doesn't mean that's the problem with yours. You need to get the code read to find out what's wrong. There are at least 50 different things that could go wrong and flash the tow/haul light. A code will stay in memory even if the light stops flashing.

Casey is right. My tow/haul switch was damaged at assembly and would ground out at times. Service tech replaced the switch and all is well.

Reporting back - The diesel tech replaced the TFT Sensor? and the internal wiring/harness. The truck is still under warranty at 35,588 miles. I was without the truck until Monday Afternoon, from Friday morning. The dealer did not stock the part and it did not arrive until Monday. The dealer's service dept. is open half-day on Saturday but apparently the parts distributor is not. Note to self - have breakdowns on Monday!

Oh so true......I thought I was the only one in the world this would happen to.

Transmission fluid temperature (TFT) sensor.
