Just any rear end, or are you looking for a specific gear? I may be able to help. Also, just for future reference, please use the wanted/for sale thread at the top of the forum page for requests, thanks!

the truck belongs to a buddy of mine and the rearend is fried. its a 8 lug, and what i believe is a 4.10 gear. Sam Fear where is this hickory grove auto salvage? If anyone else can make a recomendation, the truck is in waterloo iowa, so any thing between davenport and waterloo would be great.

Isn't that a Dana60?
How long have you been driving the streets of Davenport? You should know that to find anything in this screwed up city you have to have a navigator or a phone book with maps! The reason I'm razzin' ya a bit is because Hickory Grove Auto is on...uh...Hickory Grove Road.
Anyhow, the first and best place to look is the Davenport phone book under Auto Parts - Used. Hickory Grove, Midwest, and '2 & 92' are probably your best bets. Give 'em a call. They likely will know if they have anything useful on they're lot - doubt they'll know the gearing though. Most salvage yards don't hang on to the older vehicles that long. U-Pull-Apart and the Muscatine Junkyard (can't think of the name) might have something too.
Take the phone book with you when you go - 20yrs in this town and I still have to pull the map out to find streets - and I work for a delivery company! (Bettendorf is worse)

The only axle I have access to is a 3.54 from a 79.... don't know what the gear is in my 77, but I don't know as I want to part with it just yet, unless the whole truck went with it.

hey Chrono 4 - what is the brake drum size on the Camper Special axle you have? I found the hard way that the Camper special axles are different ( at least MINE WAS ) than the standard 250 -

not sure on the size, as far as i know, its just regular ole 16.5 rims on it.
Not the wheel rims..the actual brake drums. The standard F250 had 2" brake shoes...the HD F250 ( camper special ) should have 2.5" wide shoes. The drums are signicantly larger and none of the brake parts, nor the axle housing will interchange. The axle shafts are the same but the axle housing is 1" narrower end to end on the heavy duty f250 verses the standard F250. But...I suppose this all depends on what year the axle is. I am assuming it is out of a 73-79. The 72 and older trucks could be different....???
