I don't think it would sell well. For this sporty 2 seater market, people look at imports. That's just the way it is. It would probably cost way too much and not perform up to the par of the import.
What Ford needs to do is come up with a cheap, RELIABLE (I'll say it again RELIABLE), economy car that is well put together and kind of sporty to attract the younger buyers. Get into the Scion market, but not so ugly. (Or make it ugly as long as it sells.)
Right now every kid going off to college is thinking Toyota or Honda. (Or one of thier spin offs)

I went off to college and thought "Ranger". Then halfway through I thought "F-150". Of course the job's pay increased at about the same rate that my education did, although they are not related. I just happened to score better paying jobs as I progressed. But I agree with the people saying produce that car. Tone down a few of the futuristic lines and give it more of the GT-40 headlight style and it would be perfect.
