Another Header Question

Help! I put my Dynomax headers on my 1977 F-250 two weeks ago, and failed to notice a serious problem. On the drivers side, the header is too close to a frame that runs underneath the tranny. It is about 5" wide and varies in shape. The frame is so close to the header that I can't attach the pieces that came with the headers that you start the exhaust from. I tried bending the header with a pipe enough so that I could fit the fitting and gasket in between, but I realized that there will still not be enough clearance for an exhaust pipe. I know this will probably be as hard to picture as it is to describe. The passenger side header goes under and past the same frame , but the drivers side header ends about 1/4" before it gets to the frame. It almost seems as if the drivers side header should do the same thing. I know I have the right set of headers. I have gone back to the parts store where I bought them to confirm it. Has anyone else used these headers? Has anyone else run into the same problem? Any help or suggestions are appreciated here. I'm totally lost here. Thanks.

Your right, it's hard to picture with just words, But, I had some problems with clearing the spring mounts on mine so I had to undo the motor mounts and tilt the engine a bit so the header wouldn't hit the spring mount.

I don't know if tilting the engine would help you any, but it's worth looking at.

Another Header Question

On a slightly different application, 69 F250 with 390, 2wd. I had to make several mods to get my Dynomax headers to fit. Indented some plumbing to clear power steering unit, used a very large crow bar to bend header away from C6 linkage and added a couple of large washers to the motor mount to help in both cases. I also bent the collector mounting so I had the pipes welded up. Needless to say, I was a little dissapointed with these headers. My truck has the stock drivetrain, I'm not sure why the fit was so bad.
