Sounds like the exact same problem as GM window motors are having.

I had one like that on the rear passenger door... couldn't fix it. I think that is an aftermarket replacement - I'll have to find a complete replacement for that one.

But since I know how to fix'em... I'll go the salvage yard.

I am not positive, but I think the motor and resistor you are repairing will be the same. May be a little differant it the way you take it apart.

You can get new ones from DirectFordParts.com (site sponsor) for about $45.00 each.

I have a 2000 Ex 7.3 4wd and did all the locks. I don't remember any difference in the lock motor. I did however remove the motors from the lock mechanism prior to repair. I also use 18 ga copper wire to solder around the ends of the thermistor rather than aluminum foil. I have also heard that to drill a hole through the resistor and insert a copper wire, resolder will also work.

Directfordparts is a dealer in Las Vegas. Very good people to deal with. Have dealt with them several times and always fast shipping and willing to help you if you need it. They have even sent me schematics on some stuff they don't have listed and got it for me. If you don't see it listed, they can still get it if it is made.

Thanks, I'll just replace them both, instead of trying to figure out how to repair them.

I just looked up the part for the rear door on a 2000 excursion and this is the schematic and the actuator don't look like your pictures, looks more like most Ford actuators. Here's the picture and number 6 is the actuator.

It must be the original, about 3yrs ago I changed out both the passenger side, so i guess it's time for the Driver side. Heck my liftgate is acting up too, at times it locks and at times it don't, I'll clean it out first with WD-40 and then go from there.
I just ordered both driver side actuators, like the price, will see how long these last
