What vibetech said ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ above.

It a bit to wade through, but it contains all the information you need to git-'er-done!

If I were you, I'd read it all, as there are some subtle tips contained therein.

This has been a problem on my F350 for a couple years now. I finally decided to do some research, and I'll be doing the "fix" tomorrow. Thanks!!!

what are yall using to get the penny down to the correct size? I used a bench grinder and file for the first two doors, but this takes about 40 minutes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well now I never said I used a penny for the $.01 fix. However one could be used if it weren't illegal. The copper would make a excellent conductor. But if it were legal and I used a penny I would use my bandsaw to cut it. If I didn't have the band saw I would hold the penny in a vice and use a hand hack saw. However if you were to insert one in the motor in series with the brush so your lock motor would work there would be the possibility that someone might inspect the inside of the door panel, open the lock motor and then disassemble the motor to find the penny. Then you would be in big TROUBLE for defacing US money

.

easier yet then a penny, A piece of house wiring, romex. A scrap piece you might have around, or stop in at the next contruction site you see and ask, you only need a piece shorter then a foot. It has solid copper wire that is about the right thikness, just keep doubling it back on itself, and you can make a piece the same size as the piece you removed.

Got it. All the doors are done and lock/unlock great. Thank yall for this awesome site, and the great knowledge. Also, the hacksaw works way faster than a bench grinder, oddly enough.

If and only If I did the fix and If I would of used the .o1. Id cut it with just a pair of side cutter pliers then I'd just bend it back an forth untill it broke in 2. then I would of used a flat mill file to bring it down to exact size and shine up the contact areas. the side cutters will work fine ....IF I did this.

My doors work fine ......Now!
GS

BTW Thanks to all who contributed to this tread it saved me some real $$$$$$s...... almost 2 full tanks of diesel!
