Hey all. It's me........the original poster for the door lock fix! I haven't been on in a while. I just bought my wife an EX and low and behold ALL the actuators are terrible. I thought I'd get online and do some searching to "remember" how I did the fix and low and behold there are IMPROVEMENTS! I am doing the .01 cent fix tomorrow. I'm glad to hear it's helped out so many and saved $$$$

I did mine on the lift gate on the Ex. It works with authority and all it cost was .01...

I'm about 7 hours away.........But if I was down in Portland I wouldn't be any use anyway........You couldn't get me off of the mouth of the Columbia River..........SALMON FISHING!

Good luck with the door lock! I'm glad it's helped so many people. That's what this forum is all about.

I removed my 2003 f150 supercrew rear door actuator and it looks nothing like the pictures of the ones you have here.

Will this fix work on the 2003 supercrew or do I have to buy a new actuator?

Well the actuator looks different but the parts inside are the same.
I opened it up a little differently and did the fix and all is good.

I just did the two front doors and a 2000 Windstar. Wasn’t sure if the actuators would be the same, but my symptoms matched so I gave it a try. Worked like a champ!! I used Gorilla glue to put the actuator back together. Good for now, hope it holds...

NEW OPTION: I used a short piece of 12 gauge copper wire (the bare neutral wire from a piece of Romex house wiring). I just bent it over to make a tight U shape and then beat it with a hammer to make it slightly thinner.

Hope I get a few years before the ’05 F350 needs this treatment.

Yes, I think it has saved a bunch of us here some money. Take a second and leave kalsc a few rep. points. He's the one that started the link and fix.

I did this fix, it was the best! I was giddy everytime I used them. BUT, now they just stopped working alltogether. The fuses are fine, is there a relay or something?

Check Fuse #26 in the power distribution panel on the Left side of the engine top front of wheel well.

Remove and replace this fuse. Check your model my records only go to 2000 but it should be in the same place. This is the only thing that prevents power to your locks other than a dead battery, broken wire or defective window switch on the drive door. All power goes to the driver door then to the pass door. I assumed you have a 2 dr F250. If it is a 4 Door all is the same but more actuators

So replace the fuse with a new one and try again.

Just checked that fuse with multimeter and its good. So I guess I'll check the the driver door connections. The windows all work. It is a 200 250.

If your fuse is good you should have 12 volts at the window switch between pins 4 and 1,2,or 7. Pin 4 is the 12 V in 1,2,7 are the grounds. If you don't have power on the switch look at the power lock relay.

On some trucks there is a power lock relay in the relay box mounted on the fender. Look in your owners manual and find out which relay sends power to the lock switch. Replace this relay then check.

I check the owners manual and no relay is listed for the door locks, only the auto roll down feature. I checked all the pins at the window switch and none had 12v, but the lock switch does have two pins with 12v, power is getting to them. So, I checked the switches themselves and they work. I'm guessing power is not getting to the acuator somehow? or something at the actuator has come off. I'll take it out tomorrow, its getting dark here.
