Can I make my 7.3 PSD quieter?

Is there any other mods beside the HPX line mod that will quiet my 7.3 down. The 6.0 is nice and quiet. I do use Rotells 5/40 syn, and that helped. Thank you!!!

Im afriad the 7.3l is built to be noisy...or atleast it seems that way. Just be glad you dont have an older 7.3l...those things where horrid! I kinda like the sound of the 6.0....but i love hearing my 7.3l sing.

In some of my reading, I notice that running biodiesel is supposed to quite them down some.

Does adding a bottle of canola oil in with a tank help too? Thought I read that on here a while back.

Are you wanting to quiet the exhaust or engine noise? I assume you are talking about engine noise.

The IH "Blue CPS" is supposed to help queit them down and smooth things out, as well as improve MPG. Here'a a link or two about it:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=446151
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s....php?p=3251330

Also, replacing the quick connects on your fuel line from the tank to the pump will help. A lot of air gets sucked into the lines at those quick connects, and can cause noise. You'll want to cut off the quick connects and replace with a hose. See this link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=446151

There may be some other ways, but others will need to chime in for those.

There's not a lot that you can do beyond what you are considering BirdDog. There's no way we can ever make a 7.3 as quiet as a 6.0.
Jtharvey provided some good links that if you read them and follow the advice, it will make the engine sound healthier, but not quieter.

There is a guy that I know (on-line) that swears his idles and runs like a sewing machine. I have never personally heard it. It has everything to do with programming with injectors, timing, pulse and a few other things that I can't quite remember. PM me if you want to know who and where. I will not post it on here.

If you are talking about interior noise, there are sound dampners that can be intalled inside of your cab. Basically, you remove the interior carpet, and they are like "plates" that cover your floor pans and fire wall. I am sorry but I cannot remember where I saw them online at.

Also, Ziebart can apply a heavy undercoating they call a sound dampner. Basically it is a heavy layer of undercoating almost twice the normal thickness.

I have heard of both of these remedies, but I have not tried either one of them, sorry.

I put stuff called "brown bread" sound dampening material in my Camaro which has a mild cam, SLP headers, Corsa exhaust and gutted cats so it's really loud. The "brown bread" is like heavy sheets of tar you cut up and stick on the bare metal after you gut your interior. Got it at b-quiet.com. I also put fiberglass insulation in areas that I could stuff it. You can do the same to your truck.

One thing I did was on the 99's they have a sound deadning mat on the in side of the cab. on the 02 they have one on the outside behind the motor. Now Mine has 2!

i did some research on noisy truck engines.turns out if you can not handle the noise of a diesel engine here are some tips:dont buy it;if already bought bring back to dealer and get a gas engine.third choice is to buy a car.i am baffled how people can purchase a product and then complain about it.dont people road test and check vehicles out before buying them?
