it is possible to order a F550 4x4 crew cab psd with a pickup bed on them. i know that for a fact. my work just got 6 of them. not aftermarket beds either. direct from ford.. i'm not sure but, aren't the axles 10 lug on the 450 and 550
We have a 550 Crew Cab, PSD, 4x4, Short Box over here. It LOOKS absolutely no different than a 350 DRW. I had to look again, when I saw the 550 badges on it.
i live in PA. a class C license states that you can drive"single or combination vehicle less than 26,001 pounds.. i have a class A, that lets you drive a combination greater than 26,000 pounds while towing greater than 10,000". that is the key. with a class C, you can drive any straight truck as long as it has a gvw of less than 26,001. or a combination of less than 26,001 , BUT, the trailer MUST be less than 10,000. that is the part people don't get. it is the trailer weight that is the most important thing with a class C license. now if the truck you are driving has air brakes, you must also have that endorsement on your license.

Couldn't the trailer be more than 10,000 pounds if the trailer is an RV? As far as I know, guys with class C's can drive those big diesel pusher RVs because it is considered a recreational vehicle or did they change that law also?
In PA, the license is as stated above. a trailer is anything that hooks up to the truck and is pulled behind the tow vehicle. it does not matter what kind of trailer it is. a motorhome that is self powered must still follow the laws for the driver. it is the driver that needs the license, not the vehicle that he is in. laws vary from state to state. in other states, you may not need a different class license to drive a big motorhome. you need to know your state laws, if you don't, you are responsible for your driving. i know here in PA, there are class A, B, and C motorhomes.
