1986 F250 (351) with a Variable Venturi ?
We recently picked up a 1986 F250 with a 351, and it looks not to have a 4bbl but a Variable Venturi carb? Did ford use these in the 1986's? The truck is quite hacked under the hood so it could have been changed..
Anyway its giving me some problems, acting like the choke is sticking..
Whats the cheapest way to get a new carb on this thing? rebuilt?
anyone know a good supplier, or have a place for a decent used one?
(Low buget truck)
thanks

See if you can post some data off the carb, or a photo??

I can take a photo when I get home, but it looks just like this (exactly)

My '83 Ford Light Truck Shop Manual (Engine) contains all the information you should need on the Motorcraft Model 7200 VV Feedback Carburetor. It looks just like the picture you provided so obviously some Ford trucks were so equipped. Works with the EEC-III control module. You really need a Ford shop manual but for a start try this link: https://www1.autozone.com/servlet/Ui...3d80173839.jsp

That carb is a 7200 VV- had one on my 83 150.
Looked around for rebuilts but WAY too much money. At that time (89) holley offered a 2bbl that met california requirements and was compatible with the computer for 250.00. Two biggest probs on the vv are TPS and a stepper motor. If you are going to work on that you Really need a book!

Found a good site for the VV. http://aarc.epnet.com/application/85...12__Motorc.htm
The 2700 VV predates the electronic feedback business, the 7200 VV is the later one. It does say that 'special tools' are required.

7200 Vv
Yeah it only highlighted the first part, copy and paste the entire address - should work. Also I found an old post-"Holley made / possibly still makes a direct replacement for that carb. accepts factory wire and is smog compliant. Seems like I paid about $250.00 for it. I bought one about ten years ago . I just looked at the holley website, they had this carb listed as a reman with part# 64-5589."

I have a Variable Venturi right now on my '82 LTD. Other than the fact that the choke is not functioning, it works okay. Super throttle response. I bought a Factory Ford service manual from eBay, it has everything you need to get a VV running like new. By the way, VV have a lot less parts than a normal carb, they are just so different everyone thinks they are crap. The carb is original on my '82, and it has never been rebuilt. The variable venturi was used up to '89, possibly '91 on P72 Crown Victoria's with the 351W option.

The choke isn't working on mine either.. what did you do to keep it open? There seems to be a couple levers in that area, not sure which one to keep open..
