Wicked Wheel Install - Some Install Lessons
Well I finished my new wheel install on Saturday. It took 5 hours. Two hours where spent on getting the exhaust manifold clamp off . Everthing came right off and went right back together really well. The only thing that held me up was that clamp. If you take a screw driver and just tap the ends of the V-clamp with it and a hammer it comes off just as pretty. The problem with the back clamp is just getting to it. You can get the left side of the clamp, looking toward back of truck, fairly easy. To get the right side of the clamp I finally had to heat up a 8" screw driver about 2-3" back and bend it at a 45 degree angle. This lets you go over the back of the unit toward the drivers side and still lets you get a hammer in there easily. By the way I'm not talking about a huge hammer. I used a tack hammer and just tap in the right spot and it will spring off. For the lower third of the clamp I pulled and pushed down on the clamp, drivers side, and tapped the side of the clamp with the tack hammer. Popped off with just a few taps. I hope this saves some time for people on the future. Like I said everything else was a breeze.By the way I also went ahead and tightened the pedestal, I went and changed the upper and lower o-rings, and turbo down before putting on any clamps. This worked fine for me.
I took it out when finished and it seems to spool up faster. the truck seems quicker to me from a stand still. Throttle response seems better. I have no gauges yet. They are next, so can't tell you about boost pressures. Noise increase - the whine seems to be a little louder but nothing like my neighbors with a 6.0 and 4" exhaust. I have not pulled anything yet but will let ya'll know how it goes. All in all I think it was worth it for just $70 some bucks.

haha that clamp only took me 3 minutes. spray all the clamps down with PBblaster or Gibbs the night before
but i ended up deforming it so much with a screwdriver in those three minutes, i bought a new one at the dealer.
go back in a while and check the two 13mm bolts on the pedestal, and the 10mm (i believe) bolts on the pedestal/block mount. i believe you can only get to the front ones with a swivel and a long ratchet.

I sprayed them all but didn't seem to help much. You can get to everything with a wrench if the Y p pipe is out. I removed the turbo connected to the pedestal all at once. I loosened the two turbo bolts then removed the pedestal bolts. This allowed me to turn the whole unit and gave me better reach to that clip on the EBPV.
