Unbelieveable! Bulletproof motorcycle clothing...
I was commenting on something else and did a random search - which turned this link up. It has to do with a line of motorcycle clothing made with Kevlar linings. The really wild part of it is how they tested the clothing.

Some really slick salesman must have been involved in the recruiting process...
"Hey, we want you to get dragged by a motorcycle on your butt. however, your tail will be directly in contact with the road. We're pretty sure that our jeans will protect your butt. Waddya say, wanna try it?"

wish they had those when I was a kid. Get all the neighborhood to pitch in. When your folks say go to your room, sneak out the window go get the jeans and get back before spankin' time!

Those have been on the market now for a good 20 years now. I thought about getting them once. Back when Cycle mag was still alive they did some cool abrasion tests. Tested Levi's, leather (racing and dress) and some other items. The funny thing was that older jeans lasted longer than new jeans. They said the fibers were tighter in the old jeans.

Man those ought to eliminate some road rash! I wonder if that guy was scared to loose some skin on the very first drag? Bigger kahonas than me.

Good point - I wonder if they make boots and gloves too.
If the tether broke the guy would flip and flop all over the place.
It won't protect from broken bones, but they will keep your hide intact!

I'm not flaming, but kevlar is not bullet-proof, it's ballistic.
Materials that are ballistic will not stop bullets, they may deflect or slow the bullet down, but not stop. Mostly effective against shrapnel.

also kevlar is quite heavy and bulky, part of the reason cops hate wearing vests
