2000 Expedition blower motor resistor location
Hi, I'm new to this site and was wondering if anyone out there has any information on the location of the blower motor resistor on the 2000 Expedition Also what procedure must be taken to remove it. It has a manual system and the blower only runs on high speed. Thanks!<!-- / message --><!-- no sigs except when logged in -->

Look under the passenger side of the dashboard for the resistor. It should be located to the left of the fan motor. Tough to see, but it has a 4-wire harness running to it. It's screwed into a metal channel located behind the heater box. The box does not have to be moved or disassembled. The channel is sandwiched between the heater box and the uppermost area of the floorboard.
The mounting plate of the resistor should have a brown, almost pressboard-like appearance, and is held in place by two screws. It's about 1 x 2.5 inches in size. I actually resorted to using a small mirror to find it. If you pull the resistor, you'll see that it's comprised of four steel coils (look like large ink pen springs) attached to metal brackets.
Cost? About $16 at the dealer.

Thanks for your help, I had it out in about 5 minutes. It took awhile to find, but after following the 4 wires and using the small mirror it was relatively easy to remove two 5/16" hex head screws. After examining it I found where one of the coils was open at one of the metal brackets which were all almost rusted through!

Since I can't find an Edit Icon???
I'm betting that Auto Climate is set up different... I have the Ford Repair CD and it shows the Resistor Installed IN the Fan Motor (in the Housing) with a Harness going from it to the Motor ....
After 3 hours of sitting up-side down (with 2 blown Lumbar Discs)... NO resistor in the Fan Motor Assy...
The CD even has a PICTURE but NOPE...
Anybody had to change one of these on an Auto Climate Control??? The Haynes Manual shows Wire Colors coming from the Combo Switch to the Resistor, those colors don't exist coming off the back of the Control Module...
If'n you see a small Mushroom cloud coming from Central VA... That'll be my Truck pretty soon

Misleading
The repair manuals are misleading. The Expy blower motor resistor comes in two types depending on when and where made. the most common is this one

But there is also this one

I have the second one. an dit is located behind the passenger side kick panel.

Resistor location
hi, did you ever find the location. On the 2001 Expedition, I can’t find anything under the passengers side. I can’t find the resistor at all
