fuel pump inquiry

ok so ive been playing with this dang thing on an off for quite a while now and i need to get a stock fuelpump assembly for it....its an 88 turbo coupe motor that i put in an 86 ranger....i called around to diff junk yards, searched ebay...nothing...a brand new fuel pump assembly costs over 300 bucks...way too much, does anyone know of a fuel pump assembly off of another vehicle that would fit and work? would i be able to use a regular fuel pump assembly off of a newer EFI ranger? im guessing most EFI fuel pumps push about the same no? or maybe use the assembly off the ranger and the actual fuel pump off the tbird?.....any ideas????

I suspect that 300 dollar price is for the entire assembly, which includes the fuel level sending unit. The pump by itself should be considerably less. Kragen's website shows the pump alone as low as $63.99.

I would think that you could use a pump for a V8 as well, and there are aftermarket external pumps available for EFI much cheaper than that 300 dollar price tag.

I'd get a used one from the wrecking yard then, from an EFI Ranger and then swap in a higher volume fuel pump such as the T-bird unit as you suggest at the end of your first post. The different fuel tank shape of the T-bird might not let it's sending unit work properly in the Ranger tank.
