I have a stock 78 F150 and was wondering where the jack handle and spare tire should be located? The jack handle is currently clamped under the bench seat, towards the back. I'd prefer to put it under the hood if possible. And my spare tire is sitting in the middle of my bed. I did not find any room under the bed for it. The gas tank sits in the rear between the frame rails. Did the spare tire originally hang under the gas tank or bolt somewhere in the back of the bed?

 

mine is held up under the gas tank by a bracket. Ive seen in the rags a slide out spare tire carrier that mounts in the same place, as well as one that mounts in the bed. I believe all three of these were factory.

 

My '79 has the tire strapped up to the tank. I have the orginal jack and handle but, I don't care use them. The jack has a holder on the driver's inside front fender near the ignition box, and the handle is about three feet in length and it's held across the radiator with some clips. I prefer the piston jack myself...keep it behind the seat along with my "Emergency Tols."
