Whats a good winch?

I guess the real question is how much do you want to spend?
If you do not need load braking when unwinding the cable and plan to drive the car out of the trailer, a cheap $60-$100 winch will be okay. They are usually advertised as 6K boat winches and attach to a hitch ball. They can be hard mounted anywhere.
Most come with 25 feet of cable. They usually have a clutch wheel on one side of the winch so it can free wheel the cable and a 12 foot remote.
Whatever winch you get make sure it has a 12 foot remote so you can winch the car into the trailer while standing outside the trailer so if a cable breaks you do not get wacked.
The big advantage of these winches is that they are slow, but, draw only 20 amps or so under load so they last a while on a charged battery.
Otherwise I would probably get a Warn. Worth the extra money because of the better quality.
