Where to buy Gears?

I need to change the gearing in the rear ends in my 4x4 78 F150. Is there somewhere you can buy the gears, or do you have to get used parts from a junk yard or something?

If I can buy new somewhere, what info from my truck am I going to need in order to make sure what I buy will work correctly?

Thanks,

Chad

On the differentials there should be a tag attached to one of the housing studs under a nut.
Write down ALL the information on it and post it here.
Then watch what happens.

Look on the door for a data plate and do the same ,write down all the info.
