Working for a Railroad Company

What I would like to do is work for a Railroad Company, I would like to work for the BNSF Railway Company or work for the Union Pacific Railroad Company, do I need a college degree to get involved in those kind of activities? I'm currently working at Shopko and I've been working there for 6 years now, I'm a big fan of trains and I would like to be around people who are into trains like I am.

Go to the web site and apply. I don't know what the exact address is, but there is one. It tells about the requirments and what you need to do in the meantime. I seriously thought about working for the railroad. I still am actually. It seems like a good paying job. Lots of work though.

I'm from a small town in SE Washington state and the nearest major railroad company yard is about 45 miles from where I live, our town has a minor railroad company.

Are you the one from Kennewick or somewhere in that area? I'm near Spokane. My town doesn't have a major yard either, but i was thinking of moving someplace else. PM me the link if you ever find it. I havn't seen it for awhile. I was gunna do like track maintenence or something, and then someday do the welding part. I don't remember the exact names, but thats what they invovled.

I'm from Walla Walla and it is the headquarters of the Blue Mountain Railroad Company, we have a small railroad yard in our town, Hermiston had a huge railroad yard on the Union Pacific line.

I think its pretty good. I've lived here all my life, and don't particularly like the area i'm in, but thats because i'm young and there is nothing to do unless I drive to Spokane. Overall I like it more than most of the other places i've visited.

I will probably apply for a job."Track Maintenance Various Positions" sounds pretty good to me. I'm not exactly sure where I want to locate to though.

I know around here (Salt Lake) you don't have much chance of getting on with any rail service unless you know someone or have relatives already working there. Not impossible to get on but very tough.
