Non-PI to PI

OK, here is the situation. I have a 98 F-150 4X4 with a 5.4. I am fairly certain that this was an early 98 so I am thinking non PI heads are on this truck. Especially from the performance...lackluster to say the least. That is only part of my issue though. The truck has 190,000 miles on it, and runs as well now as it ever has. BUT it is starting to show signs of problems. The CEL is always on, I have like 4 or 5 exhaust maniflold bolts that have broken off, that you cannot get to. Occasionally it has a cold start problem where it won't idle....that I think is the IAC. I am thinking that with almost 200K and the outlook of getting a new ride slim (other hobbies are stealing money left and right) the idea of putting on some PI heads seemed like a good one to me. The reasons for this are I have always used Mobil 1 oil, and the bottom end is in great shape, but with the milage it could probably use a valve job, and if it takes almost the same amount of work to get the valves done, why not just do the head swap. Along with this I figure that the heads, intake swap will cost about $1000 to 1200, and that is only like 2 months of truck payments, and this one is paid off. so if I keep it like 6 months (more like 2 years before I can really afford another truck) I will come out ahead still. I know the Mustang guys do this regularly because of all the benifits of the PI heads, but is this a feasable project for a truck?

There is a guy in the 4.6/5.4L forum that has done it. You will gain power, but the compression ratio will be raised so premium fuel may be needed. You might search thru that forum about the swap.
