Test Driving '03 F-150 - Rear End Bang Noise
Hi everyone, this is my first post and yes I am a noob and by no means a mechanic or DIY guy. I am test driving a 2003 F-150 4x4 5.4L XTR with 40000KMs on it. This is going to sound weird...but when I take it 4x4 testing and the rear end fishes back and forth..at the moment the rear end "rights" itself (that is, when the truck is facing straight again) there appears to be a light "bang" from the rear end. Of course with ideal driving you are NOT fish tailing all the time but it's a noise that I've never heard with any other of my past F-150s (98 and 01). I should also mention that this truck had a 5th wheel hitch mounted on it. There are 8 holes right through the box liner into the box as proof. Is it possible that the previous owner's towing with the 5th wheel may have screwed up the rear end? It only has 40000KMs on it but my feeling is that they may have been 40000 *HARD towing* KMs.
Any (and I mean *any*) feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
