Emission tests and installing (what?) a cat!

Yeah I know this may sound whacky, thats why I'm writting ya'll...
Some counties in Texas (mine) have started emissions testing. My big ol 460 has all the smog stuff removed, and I am running a 750cfm holley, with single plane intake. I think that I am running a bit rich at times, (not after 2500 rpms though) and I dont think (but know for sure) that I would pass the idle emissions gas test.
Question, if I installed 2 new 2 1/2" cats, would I need anything else to reduce emissions to a more safe level? I mean I dont think that my setup is running so crappy that it would foul the cats, (but I dont know either)
This set up originally had the 2 air pumps and massive egr system.
I know that I may have to "make it appear" original for visual inspection, but I would like it to operate a safe (ie. low) emission level.
Thanks folks, Barca....

I had a 400 Pontiac in a 1978 Chevy pickup with dual cats and 2.25 true duals. I never could get it to pass the emissions test here in Ohio after the first go around. Now Ohio has scrapped the California style emissions testing.... Too bad... I could have kept that truck a few years ago.

My point is the only emissions gear that truck had was cats and it sound like yours may be the same. You could be in for some challenges.

well i dont know if its like it is here, but in maryland, if you fail the emissions test, and put so much into tryin to fix it, and still fails, they excuse you. you could say you spent 200 bucks tryin to fix it. make sure you keep the reciept for your cats because thats almost 200 bucks. they do need reciepts so you can prove it tho. i had a 86 f150 that was FI from factory but was changed to carbed and i put true duals on it with resonators and glasspacks. it had a holly carb which ran richer on the driver side so that exhaust pipe smoked. so i saved my reciepts for resonators and showed them and i got excused. they didnt run it on the treadmill either to see if it leaked oil

first try to find a buddy with a A/F meter
or add some klotz nitro additive like adding air to your gas... just DO NOT FILL IT just the 3~5 gallons mixed for the test
or add an temporary egr to lean it out
