Question Lots of exhaust questions!

Hello all FTE people, been a while since I last visited and I guess I am lucky because my 1993 F150 extra cab XLT 2wd has been good to me until recently.

The truck is a at a trans shop right now getting a rebuild. Something let loose in the case and was making a growling squealing noise. That's a different story.

The trans guys were nice enough to tell me that my cat convertor is sounding as if something is loose inside of it and I had been suspecting it was shot.

Truck has 100,400 on the odo. Since I and thinking that I would replace the cat and then do a full exhaust on it.

Here is what I came up with for a cat from Summit

Then for the cat back
SUM-684011
$169.95

Exhaust System, Cat-Back, Dual Split Rear Exit, Aluminized Steel, Ford, F-150/F-250 Truck, Kit

That all comes to about $350. I got a compressor and a ton of shop tools. I've put on exhaust myself before, so this doesn't scare me. I would like to know an opinions if anyone has any? I can't spend a lot with the trans rebuild, but I need to get this stuff done too. I understand it is not stainless steel parts and it won't last forever.

in my opinion, i would put on a high flow cat instead of a direct fit (like factory). you can get a universal high flow cat on ebay for 50 bucks. and you can get it with the air tube or it comes with a cap if you dont need it. and i know the summit cat back kits arent that good because they rust quick. you can get turbo mufflers online for cheap too and then buy pre bent tubing then weld it together or take it to a shop and they can weld it. i bet if you do it yourself u wont spend over $200. because i know the flowmaster mufflers arent mellow. ive heard that they are loud and deep toned. but thats what id do

Check into Carsound high flow cats, I paid $106 out the door for two. Cats for OB1 (pre 96) are cheaper than OB2 (96 on) cats. Buy 'em and do your own exhaust with a X crossover and mandrel bends.

Or you could just skip the cat altogether, that looks like where ur dumpin most of your money is into that one part. I dunno bout where ur at, but Fremont,(N.W.) Ohio doesnt require emissions checks.
