Options for New Bed For 1 Ton Dually?
I just purchased a Black '92 F350 Crew Cab Dually that needs a new box. I'm considering four different options;
1) Find an original black dually box in excellent shape.
2) Figure out if a 99-06 dually can be made to fit.
3) Find a 92-96 Flareside box and widen it using a floor from a Styleside Short Box and then filling the 16" gap between the cab and front of the box with something that matches the style lines.
4)Same as #3 except customize the fiberglass flaresides by extending their front ends and using a long box floor.
Can anyone help me locate a black rust free dually box from an 87-97 dually?
Has anyone ever tried or done my #2, #3 or #4 options?
This is a very sharp truck with four Lightning bucket seats and center consoles. I would like to do things right which ever route I take with replacing the box, but yet I don't want to put a lot of money into it either. I want a factory look once it's done.
Thanks in advance for your help and/or suggestions.

Are you saying the fenders are in good shape and you just want the box? Dually fenders in good shape are hard to find IMHO. They are fiberglass you know and often get cracked or whacked (bondo is our friend there).
#1 A perfect used box with dually fenders (any color) is going to be a rare find in my experience.
#2 I dunno, but I would check that out before trying #3 or #4.
#3 or #4 humm, maybe try modifying #2 first if a later model dually box wouldn't just drop right on.

Thanks for the responses. I've found the quickest way for me to get a box would be to buy a 99-06 Dually box which I've found one locally for sale at $1,500. I've found a Flareside box for $800 that I could cut the sides off and graft into a long bed. The flared fenders on the dually and Flareside are identical dimension wise. THe flareside has the fenders molded into the fiberglass sides. I still would like to find a 87-97 dually box that's been sitting around off the truck since it was new. I've found a complete 93 Crew Cab Dually Turbo Diesel in excellent condition that I might buy and then sell the one I have now.
If any one knows of a 87-97 dually take-off box please send me the contact information.
Thanks again everyone!
