KC Area Mechanics...please?

My transmission is being bad, very bad. While the current plan is to take it to a dealer tomorrow to have it looked at...I'd rather take it to someone who's first concern, isn't destroying my wallet.

Whateva you do, dont take it too Cottman. They screwed me and my son on a tranny and i will never do business with them again!! I have used AAMCO and they did good work but i thought it was a little pricey! 2200 for a rebuilt tranny for a 92 F-150 with OD and 4x4! Just my opinion!

I don't care for Certified, they always want to replace yours with a rebuilt instead of fixing yours. I would go to Aamco.

Okay, Aamaco it is. I'm an hour East of St. Louis and heading in hot and heavy. As soon as I can get to the truck, off it goes-they are keeping a mechanic on standby for me (okay, not really, but that sounded cool) I like the sound of them already-no charge to take a looksie at it.

Ah-hah! Good on you guys. Aamco says they can have it fixed for $189.90. Some solenoid. Should be fixed by noonish today (took it in yesterday at about this time) Impressive. The dealer on the same street, said it'd be late today before they could even diagnose it, if we had it in at the same time yesterday.

In the end-it is now gone.

Aamco redid the solenoid that was out, then found another code. Called to say it would need a rebuild to be running right. Cost of $1200. I traded it in today for an Expedition. Also, Aamco DID NOT charge me for the work they did stating "we didn't fix anything, so how can we charge you?" I'm VERY impressed with them, thanks for the suggestions.
