Question 2002 Tranny trouble

According to maintenance schedule, transmission was flushed and filled approx. 30k. Now, with approx 41K, tranny is giving rough shifts in/out of 3rd gear. According to my mechanic, this should not be happening, but there is a Service letter out on this.
Anyone know more about this situation? Car is out of warranty and cost of tranny repairs is out of sight. Help!
Thanks!
Chris

i see a lot of exp. with this problem.i replace the pressure solinoid pack and add a bottle of the ford trans additive that the tsb you talked about describes.i also reset the internediate and overdrive bands and relearn the pressure stratagy.this will fix 95% of the vehicles.the solinoid that sontrols the 2-3 shift sticks and forced high line pressure trys to overcome the sticking solinoid and that is why the trans shifts hard into third.the solinoid cost around 200$ plus the fluid and labor, wich is around 3 hours.good luck

Thanks, l-m tech.
Don't totally understand everything you wrote (definitely a driver and not a mechanic), but will pass this along to my Goodyear guys. I'm going to talk to a Ford sales rep today, a friend, and find out what, if anything, Ford is willing to do for me on this. Thanks again for the advice and suggestions. You're great!
