1962 F-100 4x4 Axle Help
Hello everyone. I'm new to thus site, I've been reading alot of Q's and A's and finally decided to join. I just picked up a 1962 F-100 4x4. I'm wanting to upgrade the running gear to 3/4 ton. I have the rearend, I was wondering if a frontend out of a mid 70's with disc brakes would bolt in with out to many modifications, also what transfercase do my 62 have. When I got it, it was gone.

Welcome to FTE!
You'll need the 70's steering linkage and steering box, but it should be power steering, so thats a bonus. You'll have to decide wether to modify the axle to take early width 1/2 ton springs, or modify the frame to mount late model 3/4 ton spring perches. Easy enough with a little blue wrench.

Shorty 66.
I also have a 1962 Ford F100 4x4.
I am running a rear dana 60 off of a 1979 F250 4x4.
I have the front hi pinion dana 44 from the same 79 f250 4x4 i'm installing right now. The spring perches are the correct width, the drag link will be a hair too short, but it should be easy to fabricate one (two TRE's and some DOM tube). You will need to find a powerbooster/master setup, classic performance products makes one that bolts in and will work. The front of the truck will need to be raised about 2" to make the driveshaft clear with a high pinion front end (it may be that my front end was just sagged..).
I don't have pictures or progress, but here is my truck before I started.

When I finish this, I'll be going to a larger fuel injected V8 and and using this truck to tow my jeep..
