It is a slow forum, but that's OK... I've found it very helpful when a problem pops up - kind of like Old Reliable!! Someone on this site always has the answer. Prehaps its a little slow just because the old Y-block is such a good engine!

I do have to say this is one of the slowest forums on here. I'm no long making it active as i'm putting a 302 in my 57 F-250. My y-block is done for.......i completely messed it up.........anyways.......this forum may be slow but its full of useful information.

While were on the topic of swapping and parts, does anyone have an intake for a yblock that will accept a modern 4bbl carb?
go to Mummerts site @ www.ford-y-block.com they have a really nice aluminum intake for modern 4 barrel carbs. I just put a intake for a 2300 series 2 barrel Holly carb and just put a new Holley 350 cfm on it and she runs awsome. I know that more power can be achieved on these Y Blocks, but I want this motor too last and be as problem free as I can get. BTW it's a 292 and she purrs just fine now .... very happy

Mason55 I'm glad to hear that you like that carb. I have a 2100 series Autolite 350 cfm 2 barrel ready to go onto the 292.

Ok, I got a cab, front fenders, hood and Y block off a 54 F600 this summer, so I been thinking of some things to do with it. The 239 ran real good before pulling it but only ran a few minutes from a gas can, not long enough to see what kind of oil leaks anywhere. The last time I fussed with a Y block was in 1964 when I put a 312 in my 50 Merc. Don't have a lot of bread and way too many other antique projects (2 cars,4 trucks,1 house,1 barn).

Bessie, Thats cool that there is a fellow FTE'er nearby.
Dont feel bad though I have had my truck for awhile now and progress is alot slower than I had planned. Since we just rent our place right now im a little reluctant to tear my truck all apart.
The plan at the moment is to just get it on the road and enjoy! I have a 272 in it and recently rebuilt the carb due to it sitting for so long, next on the to do list is to flush the gas tank and hopefully once running again i can see how bad off the rest of the old Y is.

There is nothing wrong with this forum, just there are some other sites that have more info than this one. FTE is an excellent all around ford truck site, but when you become engine specific there are others that are better. Not to mention the Y-blocks have there own magazine!
There is a great following with these engines and I've found Y block people to be some of the best people around!
I've met some wonderful people thru my dealings with the Y's (mr4speedford-andrew, Waltson-wally, 46yblock-mike, and many more.

For the best Y-block gathering mark your calendar for labor day weekend and come to Columbus, Ohio for the y block shoot out. A full weekend of fun, friends and Y-blocks!
