Newer OEM Stereo w/ In-Dash Changer on 2000 Expedition w/ JBL

Hello- I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer Expedition with the JBL/Mach stereo system, a CD player, and a console 6-disc CD changer. I would like to upgrade to a newer OEM stereo that has an in-dash 6-disc CD changer, satellite capability, and a CD changer control that I can wire to a hard drive music system.

I've searched all over these forums and the Internet. I know installing another stereo will require cutting some plastic in the radio opening, which is no problem. What I need to know is:
  • A company that sells OEM stereos told me I can replace my stereo with 04-05 Explorer models 4L2T-18C815-CE or 5L2T-18C815-DC. However, mine is a DIN, and those are mounted with screws. How would I mount them in my radio compartment?
  • Is there any way I can confirm (or can anyone here confirm) that the plugs/harness for those stereos is the same as mine?
  • I've read that the wiring harness can be different for satellite-enabled radios. I know I would need to connect a satellite tuner and antenna, but other than that would there be more work or compatibility issues if I install a satellite-enabled OEM radio?
Thanks in advance for all your help!
Don

No, I ended up buying an Inspiron 700m and a laptop for my Expedition. I got an adapter to wire it into the stereo as a CD changer. Now, I play MP3s from the laptop, use the Internet/check e-mail, and use GPS in one.

I have a 2000 EB EXPY with the Mach system including the 6cd changer.
I replaced the head unit with a new Kenwood 25th Annaiversy DVD, nav, sat. ready system. I purchased this from www.crutchfield.com Some will say that they are too expensive, however, when you purchase from Crutchfield you get for free, installation instructions along with all needed harness and phone support. They will also supply any brackes needed to fit your current set up.
I also replaced the cheap factory speakers with Kenwoods and Alpine. Also installed an Alpine power amp and Alpine EQ. Most poeple forget the EQ but this is a bad mistake.

Good Luck.
