Question Is a 95 F150 302 MAF or Speed Density?

Hey Guys,

I might be able to pick up a 95 F150 4x4 SCAB 302 with auto tranny for about $4K.

I'm more familiar with the old 300 I-6's and the newer Modular engines so I want to know if the 95 302's are MAF or Speed Density fuel systems?

If I get this truck I might do a rebuild with some minor improvements, but I'll need to know about the MAF/SD issue first. MAF is a bit easier to deal with upgrades.

Also, what an average cost for mostly stock rebuild?

Thanks for any help.

mass air will have a sensor between the air filter and throttlebody.

as for cost of a rebuild that depends on if your doing the work or having someone else do it. figure $1000-3000

Chances are pretty good that it is mass air...the air meter will be mounted to the air box.

Why does it need a rebuild? How many miles are on it?

Blurry,

Not sure it does need a rebuild. I'm going to look at it this Saturday. It has 125K miles. I'm just in a position ($) that if I want to do the rebuild, I can.

If I do so, I'll change the CAM to a good low-torque model and do some decent valve work. Not too much beyond that. Will probably do some exhaust work too but I'll need to stay within the emission parameters to pass inspection.

Thanks for the replies. Other info I read also confirms that the 95 should be an MAF system.

In general, is there a mileage range in which the 302 typically needs some rebuild work?

it all depends on how well the engine was maintained. I have 187000 on my bronco and it is good. compression test is good, oil pressure is good. it is just in that point where little stuff goes worng but that is no big deal and to be expected. my cousins 302 in his stang has 304000 original miles on it and he says it runs great. he has obviously changed gaskets and stuff like that but never had to have it rebuilt.
