1997 4x4 lights flashing

I have a 1997 Explorer with a 4.0 sohc motor and 5 speed auto. The transfer case has the auto/ 4x4/ 4x4 low **** on the dash. My problem is the 4x4 lights flash 6 times then stop. A few miles later, they do the same thing. I have rebuilt the trans, the transfer case, replaced the shift motor, replaced both shaft sensors and swapped out the gem module. I have no codes, but the 4x4 light both continual to flash.
Can anybody help?
